Morganite, a cherished member of the beryl family, is admired for its soft blush tones and remarkable clarity. Typically sourced from Madagascar, Brazil, and Mozambique, the gemstone was named in honour of famed financier J. P. Morgan, whose passion for mineral collecting led him to donate significant gem collections to museums around the world.
Recently, a morganite of extraordinary calibre began its journey far from these traditional locales. In the mineral-rich landscape of Zambia, our trusted gemstone supplier uncovered a remarkable rough stone - a discovery notable not only for its scale but for its exceptional natural potential.
Recognising its rarity, the rough gem was transported to Sri Lanka, where it was entrusted to a renowned master cutter. Through meticulous faceting and patient artistry, the stone’s true character was revealed. The result: an exquisite 99.64ct cushion-cut morganite, believed to be one of the finest examples cut in recent years.
From Sri Lanka, the gem made its way to the United Kingdom, where it was personally selected by our Director, Josh Collins. It is now entering the next chapter of its journey - a bespoke design process led by our head craftsperson, who will create a one-of-a-kind pendant to showcase the stone’s beauty.
Crossing continents and passing through expert hands, this morganite stands as a gemstone of rare distinction. Its story is one of artistry, heritage, and craftsmanship - a legacy piece in the making.
